Our tips for organizing a gender reveal

Pregnancy
The gender reveal literally translates to revealing the gender and applies to the sex of the upcoming child. There are indeed two schools of thought on this subject: parents who keep the secret until birth and those who want to celebrate the moment when the ultrasound tells them whether they're expecting a little boy or a little girl. It's an opportunity to organize a festive event, filled with games and bets, during which you will share the secret with your close circle.
The gender reveal party appeared in the United States in the mid-2000s. It is organized once the baby's sex is revealed by ultrasound, typically around the fifth month of pregnancy.
The gender reveal is then the opportunity to share the news with family and friends.
Among other popular pregnancy celebrations, we have the Baby Shower which celebrates the arrival of a baby.
The baby shower party also comes from the United States where family is of paramount importance. It usually takes place late in pregnancy, between the 7th and 8th month.
Traditionally, it's the future mother's friends who secretly organize the baby shower party. They must do everything possible to gather the closest people in a festive setting with a baby theme. Guests bring gifts, without necessarily knowing the child's sex.
The gender reveal party is held before the baby shower party. It is customary to reveal the child's sex during the event, using a black balloon filled with blue or pink confetti, which will be pierced with a needle to end the suspense.
Since parents are the first to be informed, they are the ones who organize the gender reveal party.
The gender reveal party takes place during pregnancy, when parents are certain of their child's sex. The purpose of the party is to reveal the news during the event, which means keeping the secret beforehand. You shouldn't give away hints in the decoration by choosing one color over another.
The ideal location depends on the size of the party. The advantage of organizing it at your home is being on-site, which limits fatigue from travel and coming and going. Once the party is over, you can go rest without necessarily having to clean up immediately and without having to drive. Friends might offer to host your gender reveal party, which avoids disrupting your house and having too much work afterward to put everything back in order.
If you plan to invite many guests, you can rent a venue or organize your party in a park (if the season allows!).
The gender reveal party is generally reserved for the closest people you want to share the secret with. However, nothing prevents you from expanding the circle of guests. The guest list can also be influenced by whether you're having a baby shower party, to avoid overlap or differentiate between groups of people (work/friends/family). Also consider your budget, which may not be infinitely expandable.
Prepare invitations for your family members, friends, close ones, and colleagues. If you don't want gifts, specify this, as your guests will otherwise feel obligated. Remember that you must maintain the mystery in your writing and color choices. You can however include hints... but also false leads!
Decoration is the most delicate element of the gender reveal party. Indeed, your guests must not detect any clues before the moment of revelation, but parents still want to display the traditional colors, which are traditionally pink for girls and blue for boys. You are of course free to be original with other colors.
You can compose your decoration with neutral elements, but also opt for double-sided decorations. For example, you can flip your tablecloths at the last moment to "announce the color" or hide balloons until the last moment.
It's good form to sprinkle the ceremony with playful games. It's also the time to organize bets on the child's sex, but also on their birth date for example. When the party is at its peak, it's time to finally reveal whether you're expecting a little boy or a little girl.
As with making a toast, ask for everyone's attention, and implement the surprise you've prepared behind the scenes.
Prepare one or more balloons that you fill with confetti. The balloons must be completely opaque, which is why they are most often black.
Then organize a game around the balloon(s). The goal is to pop them to discover the color of the confetti that reveals the baby's sex. You can use darts or knitting needles for example.
You can involve your guests, especially the future godfather and godmother.
You can find specific smoke bombs for the gender reveal party: their smoke is colored, but their shell is neutral, which allows you to keep the suspense until the last second.
Stop the party abruptly to make a toast and serve all guests either a pink or blue drink.
Offer a cake containing an element that reveals the child's sex. Share it among your guests, like a king cake, and whoever finds the clue becomes responsible for the announcement.
To add originality, create a more personalized revelation using codes that reflect your passions or profession: sports jersey, tennis balls, doll representing your profession, etc., everything can be personalized and colored.
