What is a separable bunk bed?

What we call a separable bunk bed is simply a bunk bed whose two beds can be separated. This bunk bed therefore allows you to go from two beds stacked on top of each other to two beds side by side or in two separate rooms. Be careful though, a 90x190 bunk bed is not necessarily separable; this feature must be specified. The separable model indeed has a very specific mechanism that allows you to separate or put the two beds back together. An ultra-ingenious invention, the separable bunk bed also offers many advantages.

What are the advantages of the separable bunk bed?

If you've decided to opt for a separable bunk bed, there are many advantages to choosing this type of furniture for a child's room.

Space saving

With the separable bunk bed, children will benefit from real space savings. Even in a large room, two children's beds side by side take up a lot of space. By stacking the two beds, space is gained to add other furniture or simply move around more freely.

  • The material: opt for PEFC-certified solid wood, ecological panels with low formaldehyde content, water-based varnish and paint, etc. With these materials, you're choosing furniture that's more respectful of the environment and your children's well-being.
  • The origin: with a made in France children's bunk bed, you're choosing locally designed furniture of quality that complies with current regulations.
  • The brand: choose a brand specialized in bedding and/or children's furniture. This ensures you're opting for a safe and functional piece of furniture.

Saving space in a shared room

As long as your children share the same room, you'll need to be creative in furnishing this space. Small spaces are often difficult to arrange, but it's far from impossible. The separable bunk bed is a very good start, but you'll need storage spaces.

You can choose a dresser, which will allow you to fill one drawer per child to properly separate each one's belongings. If you prefer a wardrobe, make sure here too to properly separate each child's belongings. The same applies to the play area. Each child should have their own toy chest or basket. Properly separating the two children's belongings helps avoid disputes.

To ensure everything is easily distinguishable, you can opt for a color code specific to each child. A good tip for maintaining harmony in a shared room is to establish room-specific rules (don't take each other's belongings without asking, keep quiet if someone is doing homework, don't make a mess, etc.).
