Organizing sleepovers: tips for a well-arranged bedroom

Categories: Advice

Are you planning to organize a sleepover at home? This often requires some preparation and particularly properly arranging the room so that everyone can sleep there. Therefore, several tips exist for optimal arrangement for organizing a sleepover. What's more, we'll share some ideas and tips to make this moment a success.

Tidy up the room for a sleepover

Before figuring out how to arrange the room to accommodate guests, you need to start by tidying it up. Toys should therefore return to the toy boxes, clothes to the dresser and wardrobe, and we'll clear the space as much as possible to gain as much room as possible. This can be an opportunity to do some sorting or point out certain needs such as lack of storage, for example. Clear as much space as possible and vacuum thoroughly.

Add sleeping arrangements for guests

Once the space is clean and tidy, you can add additional sleeping arrangements. You can particularly opt for a trundle bed. The children's trundle bed is a bed that has a second sleeping space in the hidden drawer under the bed base. With a 90x190 cm trundle bed or a 90x200 cm trundle bed, your child has a comfortable bed for everyday use and can provide a second bed in their room without cluttering the space the rest of the time.

The trundle beds can have different looks, allowing you to opt for a children's trundle bed that matches the room's decoration. You can particularly combine space-saving and storage with our WALLIS 90x200 white trundle bed. Optimizing space with a trundle bed is therefore quite possible and it will be very useful during a sleepover.

For other guests, you can opt for air mattresses with duvets. They can be found at very affordable prices in stores, and sometimes children already have their own sleeping bag.

Plan activities to liven up the sleepover

More than just arranging the room and preparing the bedding, you'll need to plan activities to liven up this sleepover. Make sure to offer activities suitable for the age and tastes of the group of children, such as:

  • Watch movies
  • Do TikTok challenges
  • Do karaoke
  • Make jewelry
  • Play board games
  • Do a blind test
  • Organize a quiz
  • Have a pillow fight
  • Play video games
  • Organize a fashion show
  • Blindfolded makeup
  • Apply nail polish and do beauty masks
  • Hold a talent contest

There's no shortage of activity ideas to give the small group a unique and fun experience. For parents, throw out ideas and make materials available, then discreetly slip away to leave the children on their own.

What menu for the meal?

As for the meal, it all depends on whether it's eaten at the table or during an activity. Preferably opt for something simple and effective like pizzas, burgers with fries, quiches, savory cake, tacos, small sandwiches and chips—in short, above all please the children so that everyone is delighted. Don't forget dessert with cupcakes or crepes, for example.

Don't forget the popcorn if you're organizing a movie night and of course some candy to snack on during the evening. A little tip to avoid spilled glasses: think about opting for closed cups with a straw. All you have to do is add each guest's name on them.

What menu for breakfast?

For breakfast, also go for something that will please everyone, such as some pastries, milk, fruit juice or hot chocolate. You can also simply offer bread and jam, some fruit, or cereal. When in doubt, don't hesitate to ask parents what their children have for breakfast to ensure there's something for everyone's taste.

Organize a themed sleepover

You can also choose to organize a themed sleepover to adapt the decoration, food and activities according to this theme. Among the possible themes, you can opt for:

  • Harry Potter
  • The jungle
  • TikTok
  • Unicorns
  • The USA
  • Cars
  • Princesses
  • Sports
  • Star Wars
  • Marvel
  • Ninjago
  • Miraculous Ladybug

What age for a sleepover?

Regarding the age for a sleepover, it all depends on your child and their guests. If they're already used to inviting each other to sleep over, you can consider organizing this type of party from age 5. However, the first sleepover usually takes place a little later, around age 7. Between 7 and 12 years old is the ideal age to organize a sleepover with friends at home.

Reassure the parents of the guests

Finally, if the children's well-being is at the heart of your concerns, don't forget to reassure the other parents. Some may be a little worried about leaving their child for the whole night. You can, for example, create a WhatsApp group in which you'll send a few photos throughout the evening. This will allow everyone to feel fully reassured.

This attention will certainly be appreciated by all, and will allow everyone to experience the evening more serenely.
