Choose durable furniture

There is a very wide range of possibilities when it comes to children's furniture. Generally, it is recommended to opt for durable and quality furniture that will resist over time and can even be used by younger brothers, sisters or cousins for example. Therefore, we recommend choosing made in France. Renowned for their quality, furniture made in France also benefits from European safety standards.

Moreover, wooden furniture is most often preferred by parents. Indeed, wood has the advantage of withstanding the years very well and being particularly robust. To limit your impact on the environment, you can choose PEFC certified wood furniture. This label means that the wood selected for the manufacture of the furniture comes from eco-managed forests. You can also favor furniture that uses ecological wood panels.

Finally, it is important to opt for furniture that limits the presence of volatile organic compounds. To do this, choose furniture with low formaldehyde materials or solvent-free paints. This ensures you preserve your child's well-being.

Choose a bed suitable for the room and needs

The central element of the room is of course the children's bed. This should be chosen according to the child's needs, but also the size of the room and how you want to arrange it.

You can therefore choose from different types of beds such as:

  • The classic children's bed: This is the standard 90x190 cm format perfect for use from 2 years old until adolescence.
  • The children's trundle bed: This is a classic bed that has a drawer under the bed base in which a second sleeping area can be stored. This type of bed is very good when two children share a small room or if you want your child to be able to invite friends or cousins for the night.
  • The children's loft bed: Here we're talking about a children's mezzanine bed or a mid-height bed. This is a children's bed that leaves enough space under the sleeping area to install a desk, storage, a bench, a reading corner or other depending on the available space (we tell you more about it here).
  • The convertible children's bed: This bed evolves as the child grows. You can thus transform a baby bed into a children's bed through simple manipulations.

Whatever your child's needs and the constraints to be taken into account for the layout of their room, you can easily find the desired wooden children's bed. All you have to do then is choose a mattress, duvet and pillow adapted to your child's needs. Here too, we recommend that you turn to natural materials such as bamboo or cotton. The presence of Oeko-Tex certification will also be quite relevant to preserve your child's well-being.

Optimize storage and room organization

Then comes the time to choose the other furniture in the room, which will be mainly dedicated to storage. For example, using a children's dresser will be perfect for storing clothes, as well as linens, shoes, underwear, etc. The children's dresser is also very practical for placing decorative objects on top and thus personalizing the room's decor.

To store your child's clothes, we recommend choosing a children's wardrobe. Practical, it allows you to hang what's on hangers and store what's folded. It offers a large storage space, which allows you to organize your child's belongings very easily.

For older children, the children's desk should also find its place in the room. The idea here is to provide a comfortable and pleasant workspace for your child so that they can do their homework, but also draw, play, etc. Also opt for a comfortable office chair.

Finally, don't forget the storage elements that will allow you to organize toys and books. A small bookshelf can be very useful as well as toy chests and storage baskets. This way you can create a well-organized play and reading space.

Choose the decoration with your child

Finally, make sure to include your child as much as possible in choosing the decoration for their room. Indeed, it is important that your child feels good in this environment. They will therefore be able to choose decorative objects, the color of their walls, a rug, curtains... It's up to you to judge how much your child wants to take part in these changes and to learn to respect their tastes (even if they are not yours). Little by little, your child thus appropriates the space and personalizes their room according to the universe that corresponds to them.

Lamps, frames, cushions, bed linen, there are many elements to choose from that will allow you to decorate your child's room and create the desired environment. However, keep in mind that tastes can evolve and therefore they may tend to get bored quickly. So don't opt for anything too definitive or complicated to remove.
